Small Business Needs Action, Not Just Applause

Small businesses do not need more applause. They need ACTION.

October 19–25 is Canada’s Small Business Week, a time to recognize the entrepreneurs, builders, innovators and risk-takers who drive Alberta’s economy. Across our province, small businesses are investing capital, creating jobs, solving problems and building stronger communities.

But recognition alone isn’t enough.

Small business needs predictable rules, competitive operating costs, reliable energy, access to capital and a meaningful voice in the decisions shaping Alberta’s economic future.

That’s why the Alberta Business Alliance (ABA) exists.

Through Advocacy, Collaboration and Insight, we are committed to connecting business leaders with decision-makers and turning important conversations into meaningful action.

And on October 21, we are taking an important first step.

ABA will officially launch with our inaugural event, Building Alberta’s Future, featuring Premier Danielle Smith at Calgary’s Glencoe Club.

The Premier will share her vision for Alberta over the next 20 years, followed by a fireside conversation and questions about the opportunities and challenges ahead.

This is more than a launch event. It’s an opportunity to bring Alberta’s business community and government leadership together to discuss what it will take to make our province an even better place to build, invest, hire and grow.

We are proud to begin this important conversation during Small Business Week and look forward to bringing Alberta’s business and government leaders together.

We also encourage entrepreneurs to participate in events taking place across Alberta and support the organizations championing small business every day.

Because prosperity is not created by speeches. It is created by people willing to take risks and build something when no one is celebrating.

Small Business Week is seven days. Our commitment to Alberta business is year-round.

Let’s move beyond applause. Let’s get to work.
